English 11

English 11 provides structured instruction in grammar, vocabulary, writing, and presenting.  In addition, students will read a variety of materal from the American literature canon from 1877 to the present.  Students will complete two major research projects:  one literary analysis and one career research project.

Tiered Assignment 1:

"Read "The Turtle" page 756. Beginning with Before you read, continuing with the author's biography, the work itself, and the questions that follow, you will do EVERYTHING listed below in this order. Everyone in your group will have the EXACT SAME ANSWERS. 

1) On your sheet of paper, answer the connecting to the essential question. Dependent clauses w/ relative pronouns. WB 53 exercise 1, 54 exercise 1.

2) Define an bold black words or phrases.

3) Bullet point three ideas from the biography. The ideas must relate to his/her work as an author. You must parenthetically document (Wiggins pg). Quote your work if you use the exact words from the books. 

4) Read the work independently or together.

5) Create a plot graph of the work.

6) Answer the critical reading questions that follow. You must write your answers in complete sentences, include quotes to support (substantiate) your points, and use parenthetical documentation (Steinbeck pg).
