Alabama Colleges and Universities
Located in Tuscaloosa, the University of Alabama is a student-centered research university and an academic community united in its commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all Alabamians. Founded in 1831 as Alabama's first public college, The University of Alabama is dedicated to excellence in teaching, research and service.
Auburn University was established in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College, 20 years after the city of Auburn's founding. The name changed throughout the years until, in 1960, it became Auburn University, a title more in keeping with its location, and expressing the varied academic programs and larger curriculum of a major university.
Jacksonville State University is located in Jacksonville, Alabama, in the Northeast Region of the state. It is a four-year university with a variety of educational majors.

Gadsden State Community College has campuses in Gadsden, Anniston/Oxford, and McClellan. Students can earn certification and associate's degrees in a variety of areas.
